photo documentation

Last night a group of us now dubbed the "Catherine Court Crew" drove to the barrosa to celebrate with Chelsea at her 21st Birthday party. The theme was happily ever after and i went as a pixie and jek was queen of the fairies. it was a really good party, catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones. we got home after 2am and during the night i was drinking some water and obviously didn't put the cap back on the bottle cause i awoke in a pool of liquid...because i was in a sleepy daze i thought it was something else...but no just water. Chelsea looked beautiful in a lovely pink gown and she was the belle of the ball! it was wonderful to be there and to celebrate. hope tuesday is a great day for you too Chels! xxx
Jek and I went to a Bogan's and Ballerina's Party last weekend. Thanks Sarah for inviting us and having your birthday so that we could enjoy dressing up like complete bogan's...literally! it was a great party and we enjoyed hanging out with a lot more bogans oh and ballerina's too! after that party we went to a break dancing comp to see a mate break dance...unfortunately we arrived late and missed him but still saw some very talented dancers!

all the mcnicol girls at the confirmation. Jek, Bek, Courty and Loz. 26th November 2006

well that's some photos...there are a few more but dial up is so FREAKIN slow and i am hungry for dinner. however quickly today there was an ordination in the Lutheran church. 5 or 6 guys were ordained as Lutheran ministers at Concordia Chapel. Niki my new house mate, her brother was ordained and so there was much exictement.

catching the ball with my shin

so...i wasn't entirely embarrassed when i played the staff v students game! however i did miss a ball that got thrown to me and then it connected with my really hurt and there was swelling. and now there is a reasonable bruise.

and i didn't even get out for a golden duck...i got one run! i was pretty stoked!

we had a carols night at school last night and it was pretty sweet. some of the grade 12's came back for it which was nice cause they have been done for a few weeks now. and i got the chance to hang with some of the students afterwards. there are some talented kids at their school and it's such a blessing to be working with them and to get to know them. Julian announced that it's a month to the QLD road trip which is pretty exciting. we are taking 8 young people up to QLD for two weeks this summer. it is going to be a fantastic time to get to know them, share in devotion and have a really fun time in the process. Eug and I have contacts up there and so we are pretty excited anyway to be going back and seeing some old mates! i think the most exciting part is that the YP are so excited about it

my back is heaps stiff

i bought contemplative youth ministry today...i heard about it earlier in the year so i bought it so mum can give it to me fr christmas i'm looking forward to reading it.

the last cd's i bought were darren hanlon fingernails and mountain tops, the killers latest and kashmir curse of being a girl...check them ALL out!

and finally i ran most of ward street today to catch a bus....the driver saw me started tooting the horn and waved me over...and said mate i would have stopped for you back at the last lights...i was happy he stopped for me, he was a friendly fellow! kudos to that bus driver!

sick and tired of being sick and tired

it's not my year. i think i have had a cough at least 3 the last 3 and a bit's just getting a little ridiculas. i'm over not being able to breath or go to sleep easily because of the cough...i found a ventilin i had been perscribed for a cough i got last year and i thought i'd self perscribe it this time...the thing is it's best before september of this year...i got the shakes after using it the other night.

mum said i should probably slow down i think she is right...

house is sorted went and spoke to some people today and i will be moving into flat 7 in the very near furture with nikki. they (at the sem) were very happy to hear that we had figured it out...

at mum and dad's tonight it's good i think mcleod's daughters is on...i think i might go watch it with bek and courty.

4 minutes around about...

i got to speak to one of my very good mates this morning, we haven't spoken since the 10th august...i know this date because it's the date she left to go over seas! i got a call this morning around 9am adelaide time from the dresdan dolls gig in london when they were playing the jeep song! it was very exciting! about half an hour later i got another call and clare and i got to talk for about 4 minutes. it was great. before clare left and i lived here in adelaide and she in brisbane we talked once a week so it has been a strain not being able to talk with her for so long. not that we really said anything too profound in that 4 minutes it was nice to hear her voice and know that she had had a wicked time seeing the dresdan dolls...check them out if you haven't heard of them they are a two peice from boston. amanda on keys and vox and brian on drums... they are stella.

hopefully in the next week we can talk on the land line for more then 4 minutes

The course of events

This morning I had a really bad dream. It was concerning the events that are to take place in January and February. The Big Day Out. These events may not be as devastating to you are they were to me but it was bad at the time.

it started with the Big Day Out (BDO). I can't say whether it was the Adelaide or Gold Coast BDO because there were kids from school in it and so was jek (and she's in QLD). So I went to the show and had to leave for some reason...I have no idea why.

but then I found myself with a group of kids from school sneaking into a house. It was dark and then it was light and dark then light, so I was getting confused with the time and not really knowing what the time was I lost track of time.

all of a sudden I realise that crap if I don't hurry up I am going to miss TOOL...ok so I have waited the best part of say 10 years to see this band...Don't ask me why it's taken me this long to see them...Other events that are too traumatic to think about ...Maybe less traumatic then this event but I've started this story now so I have to finish it...

ANYWAY...I had to start making my way back to the place where the show was. And well that's when things were getting ugly. I was with this group of people and I was trying to catch the bus and so I went back to the mystery house...and then back to the bus stop...i am not sure why...and then I finally got a bus I had left my bag at the house. So I had to get off the bus and go back for the bag...trouble is I couldn't remember what the house was like because it had gone dark again.

after panicing and I mean going a little nuts I found someone and used their phone...I knew the person and she let me use it. BUT to send the message I had to print it out from her phone..that was connected to a mystery printer someonewhere. I was hoping to delete the message from her phone because the message was for my sister and well I had used some colourful language and I didn't want this girls mum reading the message I had written...I was still Lauren the youth worker in this dream.

so as soon as I clicked send my sister was at the door...teleported or something and we were on our way through a shopping centre. She of course bumped into people she knew who all wanted to speak to her, with which she replied "LOZ WILL kill me if we don't keep going" so we were running and running by this time it was 10.30 at night...but it was still light saving isn't that good...

I was startled out of the dream when my alarm went this morning...I don't know if I got to see tool or not...

5 years

it's 5 years since i finished high school. i got thinking about this because yesterday was the year 12's last day at Concordia. they had an assembly and they did a fantastic job, i laughed...A LOT!!! they had prepared skits of their time at concorida and there was a bit of fun and immitation of the teachers. Then last night we had a really nice dinner for them and had some speeches. there were a few teary eyed people and it was a lovely celebration. there was a lot of talk about change and that this is a time in the lives of the students who are leaving that they will experience a lot of change. i know this year has been a year of change and challenge for me...but i think i am stronger for it. but the last 4 years have been changing years too. i left home, moved from the town i was living in and went to uni and studied. made new friends, lost touch with others. it's interesting to look back and contemplate it.

mmm yes

on a less philosophical mate situation might be sorting itself out! which is very exciting!

last night after being at church for 12 hours i got home...planned to have a shower and go to bed immediately.

well that all went out the window when i got home and the ARIAS were on. midnight oil were inducted into the hall of fame, silverchair performed and clare bowditch won best female. which was cool because she is amazing...i've been looking at reports of the night and the thing i keep reading about her is that she was little known, which is sort of annoying...hopefully she wont be after last night.

midnight oil...all i have to say is what a bunch of leg's they know where it is at.

after all that i went to bed to late and now i am very i'm wolfing down the wizz fizz that a student gave me earlier!

adios and good day to you!

Catherine Court

Catherine Court. A place i have hung my hat at for the past...mmm perhaps 7 months. it's close to the city, there are other cool people in the building who i enjoy bumping into and having a chat too. it's very affordable...if there are 2 people living in the flat. Adam is moving out. so i need to find another person, or pay double rent, or move out too. option one is most preferable.

but management are being difficult (as they often are) or maybe it's because it's not working out how i want it to work out that it is becoming increasingly frustrating.

any suggestions or perhaps friends who read this do you have someone that needs a place to hang their hat?

social work

it's been almost a year since i completed my social work degree. i haven't had a real social work job since then. i was starting to get desperate and wanting to work as a social worker more then ever.

last night i got a glimpse of hope. i'll back pedal a little bit to explain how i got to meet helen last night.

dad met diane (another social worker) earlier this year and she said for me to email her my resume. i did and she forwarded it on to her manager. didn't hear anything for a while and she said not to be concerned by that because the department is a slow process her manager ended up emailing my resume to another helen and that's who i met last night.

she told me about a lot of jobs that are just about to hit the press...unfortunately most are more then part time which makes it difficult with the youth work job!anyway she told me about a part time job in waikerie at a community centre and it just sounds like an amazing job. grass roots community development working side by side with people that need it. i'm calling a lady today.

after all this occured i went to rachel and joel's and rachel being a rad chick and all showed me some stuff on the computer and did my new little banner and helped me iron out the crinkles of this blog.

so rachel cheers to LEG!!

back to school

back to school today...i really can't fathom that it is the 4th term already. it's been a cool day. got to sing in chapel. wade in the water, give me oil in my lamp and lord i lift your name on high...which i struggled with cause it's quite high and becomes hard to sing after a while. got to film a "councelling session" for the year 12 video. it was quite funny. if posting photos and video footage ever worked for me i'd post it but alas poor yorik it doesn't. a couple of the students were having a bit of a dig about how they haven't got their year 12 jumpers yet...and it's coming into summer so they'll be really handy...mmm sarcasm

i think it's 37 sleeps til jek gets to adelaide and she'll be here for a whole month...woohooo

procrastinating...a few simple ideas

1. CLEAN dishes, bathroom, bedrooms, toilets
2. eat...pretty self explanitary
3. check your email
4. write emails
5. pretend you are looking up books for your assignment when really you are writing emails
6. write a blog message
7. watch a movie

these are a few simple ideas. today i have accomplished... 1-6 and i technically didn't do 7 but i watched a couple of episodes of felicity...mmmm

yes it's that time again in the uni year where assignments are due. I'm currently doing one subject and even now i am assignment to go...i mean 1 of 2 that is for the whole semester! mmm i definately got out of studying pretty quickly!

on another dad is the greatest! he changed my oil in my car on the weekend and he was concerned there was a leak and so he let me borrow his astra to go to the hills...which i didn't protest cause it goes really fast and has a cd player in it...alice (my car) has radio...the fm does work which is really good! and then when i got back yesterday to give him his car back...he'd washed alice, put a new indicator light in, got me a fuel cap with a lock on it (mine was an emergency one only) and then when i asked how much i owed him he said..."nah it's a gift". what a champ.

i went to a stand up gig last night. a fundraiser for make poverty history. meagan and i got there when the last band was starting so i missed the sun dance kids yet again...i hope i see them soon. i need to see what the fuss is about. i got an ep of theirs and the music is great, it would be nice to see them live though. it was a fun night. met some new people, saw some lutherans and got to bed late. and then got woken up early with brad and nathan leaving (mates from qld that have been here all for a week). they gave me a vegetarian cookbook to say thanks for having was really sweet...i can't wait to use a recipe from it!

yeah so i think i've successfully sucked some minutes away...better get back to the task at hand...baptism...should we baptise kids, what's wrong with believers baptism and when should we refuse baptism...mmmm

Saturday, October 14, 2006

can i help you?

sweet so i had another trial at the chocolate bean cafe today and it went pretty well! so well infact i have a shift next saturday night so i am STOKED!woohoo for me. the milk is going to be my nemesis BUT i think i'll get there with that. the girls i was working with today were so nice and patient with me and i had a fun time.

taste of chaos...well i could go on and on about this one! Underoath: favourite hands down closely followed by anti flag. and there was a really fun local all girls band, i think their name is blow up betty. really good old school punk and they rocked basically. i need to check out if they are playing any gigs locally because i would really like to see them again. taking back sunday were a big disapointment and well it wasn't exactly enjoyable with the drunk girl next to me. frankly i wanted to punch her in the face but i didn't. back to underoath though...they just played really well and man they were tight. just before they played their last song they made a tribute to Jesus Christ. they said they wouldn't be able to do what they were doing without him and that the band wasn't just the band members but Jesus on their sidetoo. It was SO COOL. i was moved to buy a tshirt. which made me poor but i have a new job now so it's all good!

BIG DAY OUT well i bought a ticket for adelaide and mum and dad got me one for gold coast...YESSSSS oh yes it's going to be a good summer...

so i am going to try and attach some photos so hopefully this time it will work!

the space vortex

i've been helping out at carclew the last 2 days and the theme of the artworkshops so far have been space. yesterday there were a couple of delightful boys in the group when were were doing painting. one who wished to be called sonic or shadow because they are characters from a game that he really likes. he was drawing a space vortex on his he was cool! we were discussing what was in the rings around saturn...apparently it's dust, dirt, ice and metors...yes you learn or relearn something new every day!

and today i learned that there is an equivelent to reverse garbage here in adelaide called "it's not garbage" so i look forward to going there and having alook. might have to wait until di is here so she can come with me!

today has been stinking hot here

that is all...

the little boy is all grown up!

it's adam's birthday today. the champ is turning 21 and we are celebrating tonight with a nice dinner and he bought a car and gets it today...i want to buy him some icecream a whole tub infact and help him eat it! cheers to adam!

went to the doctor today..the consultation was going to cost $70 and the doctor bulk billed it and i didn't have to pay a cent so i thanked God for him...and then spent over $30 on the perscriptions he gave me!

the trail at choclate bean went well...i think i'll hear back from them on thursday! fingers crossed

i'm finding this more and more frustrating...i can't seem to post multiple photos on at a time...and it's giving me the irrates...grrr

what a week!

hey hey!
it's been a while i am falling down in this blog already! ok so i just spent an amazing week at Christian Life Week. God was pretty busy this week. there was lots of fun and friendships made. people busting rhymes and beatboxing. I had the opportunity to meet some amazing young people and be involved in their spiritual journey. KUDOS to all of you. I did end up with a nasty cough and well it might stick around i hope it doesn't.

other cool news i have i trial at the chocolate bean tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. it's a cute chocolate cafe in union street which runs through grenfell and rundle streets in adelaide city! so i am pretty stoked about it.there are apparently alot of people trialing so whether or not actually get it is another thing! but i am excited at the prospect! and for you that know my love and passion for chocolate it's exciting!

two of my special mates from brisbane are in adelaide this weekend. Chey and Jooolie. Chey goes back tonight and i saw him for a about an hour on friday night at his mum's art opening. (it's in the gallery til the 15th october 23 Rosa Street Goodwood, if you have time between now and then check it out if you are in adelaide, SHE IS AMAZING!) anyway i was feeling particularly feral but geez it was rad to see chey again. he is such a champ and i really miss seeing him. so it was nice to briefly exchange information about how ours lives are going! i saw julie yesterday. sat on trav's couch for a few hours, while she recovered from the night before and me from being sick. you know you are sick when you walk up stairs and you are gasping for breath! i get to see her again tonight which is cool!

i had a bit of an apifany....mmm not sure on the spelling and i don't have a dictionary to check...tom asked me on camp if i am afraid sometimes of being the real loz...and i do and he told me not that was not very articulate...i'll try again another day...i'm going to try and upload some pictures from camp...not sure how it will work..but if it does ENJOY

and good day to you.

me and my beautiful sister at sez and chris's wedding in August...i was a bridesmaid it was so fun. You probably wont catch me wearing a dress until well possible christmas!

when the past catches up with a good way

top of the morning to you!
so a couple of fridays ago i was with some of the youth kids and we went to see antiskeptic at HQ (the old heaven, yes where they had the time warp nights and where there was lots of drugs and spew) and i bumped into (not literally) into a guy i went to primary school with. we caught up last night. and it was ace. after not seeing him for about 8 years i was wondering if the conversation might dry up after half an hour...3 and a half hours later when vagabondo wanted to shut we left. it was a lovely evening

west coast v sydney tomorrow...well all i can say is...GO WEST COAST (mate who are reading this and i haven't texted or asked to come your invited!)

and very cool news joolie is coming down from brisneyland to hang in radalaide for her birthday which makes me smile! some schnanigans are about to happen!

if you are watching the final tomorrow be responsible...go for west coast!

in the finals

so it's a beautiful sunny day here in Adeliade! i don't have to work today cause i did about 12 hours on sunday!
so good news west coast are in the finals and i am quite happy about that! we watched the tense game on saturday arvo (we being mum dad bek courty joel and rachel). it was fun! so this coming saturday it comes down to sydney and west coast again! i know who i am going for.

A mate from brisbane told me last time i was there that i needed to check out a band called Kashmir when they supported Something for Kate. well that was sunday night (after i worked 12 hours). Trav kindly took the spare ticket i had and we missed a few minutes of Kashmir's set. BUT...MAN THEY WERE ACE!!! you need to check them out! they are from denmark and they had some nice things to say about our princess mary! there were some songs i really liked. there was one called the curse of being a girl...check it out. and of course something for kate were great as usual. they certainly surprise me. that Paul dempsey...and stephanie she is a cool cat! plays the bass with her hair it doesn't give her the irrates is beyond me! so paul was talking about "the KINGDOM" when he refered to adelaide...i'm assuming he wasn't meaning the kingdom of God if anyone has a clue what he was talking about can you tell me! Cheers!

i'm going to enjoy the sun now!
