i'm different...and that's ok!

What happens when you get a year 10 student doing a personal project and wants to celebrate the differences we all have?
The day of difference!
Today at school we had a chapel service and watched a video that Mr S made for his project and talked about how God has made us all different with different gifts. That often we are intimidated by people who are different to us...or we feel out of place when we are different to the group. What if we could change that? embrace the differences and celebrate them.
At lunch time we had a BBQ and these bracelets were on sale...they were all different!
The best thing was that the students TOTALLY got behind it and were really supportive of Mr S! It is days like today that I think I have the BEST job in the world!
I am different...and that's OK

away we go

I watched this movie yesterday afternoon and I loved it! It's about a couple who find out they are expecting a baby and then them finding a place to raise their family! There are marriage proposals, cross country travel (Phoenix, Tucson, Maddison, Montreal and Miami), some FANTASTIC quotes, and a lot of tender moments. There are some heart breaking moments too when Bert and Verona's friends struggle with marriage and children.
This is how Margrat summed it up on the movie show on the abc
...A young couple – Burt – JOHN KRASINSKI – and Verona – MAYA RUDOLPH – are determinedly unmarried despite Verona’s advanced pregnancy. They’re dismayed to find Burt’s parents, played by – have decided to move to Belgium for a couple of years. And so they go on an odyssey, visiting old friends and acquaintances to find a place to establish family connections...and that's where I'll leave it cause I don't want to tell you everything about it...only that the character Maggie Gyllenhaal plays is a crazy cracker!
Next time you're at the video store get it out it's well worth it!

Flea Market finds

I love playing along with flea market finds, sharing what I have found and seeing what others have been lucky enough to find too! It's fun!
This week I was in Hahndorf with my sisters and we popped into a little op shop I have wandered past many time...but I have always been with Mr T...and he's averted my attention when we have walked past! This pattern was 20c...my sister picked up a couple that were marked $1 for 20 c each!
This little bag I actually picked up last week when I hit the mother load! It is a perfect size for wallet, keys, phone, camera (a small digital) tissues...and can fit a book in too...I tried this on Friday! :) there are a few zips and lots of little pockets and an extendable strap. It's wonderful...and for $4 so good!
To check out more delicious finds head over to Sophie's!

ps...tomorrow is the day my giveaway is drawn go and enter!

Jek's postcard(s)

My sister Jek also was a part of the postcard swap...but she doesn't have a blog so I thought I would post them here for people to look at because they are both great!
This is the one she received from Monica (who actually received the postcard I made!) made from paper
and Jek made this one for Tiffany stitched on fabric then stuck to paper.
pretty cool huh! I thought it was great how some people used paper and stitched on the paper and then some people make whole "postcards" out of paper! There are some pretty clever people out there!
Thanks Muchly to Beth for organising the swap! It was a lot of fun to make and receive!

ps check out my giveaway being drawn Monday!

my creative space

My creative space this week was taking on our bedroom! T and I moved in together after we got married last July and set things up pretty quickly and not a lot of thought was put into things. Well a few weeks ago I...snapped is probably a bit over the top...but the room was really giving me the....and I was determined to do something about it!
after many busy weekends we still hadn't rearranged the room. So I got all 3 sisters to come over Monday (they are all on school or uni holidays) and we moved the bed and cleaned things up!
I rearranged the shelves, I don't have a before shot but trust me this looks A LOT better that it was! I'm still working on it. My sisters and I ventured out to find some boxes to put on the shelves to put the bits and bobs in. We didn't find any but when I got home realised I already had some I could use but were elsewhere in the house!
We each have a chair as our bedside table...pretty much because we didn't have much money to buy them after we bought other furniture! I did buy the little cane box from the cheap shop on our shopping expedition!
To top off this will be hung on the spare wall now. All our guests chipped in at our reception and created this! So now hopefully our room will be a little haven for us to relax in and enjoy! It seems like it is the time to do this check out sister Anna's blog over here!

a giveaway

I have decided I am going to host a giveaway! I have been thinking about it for a few weeks...months it's hard to know how long and thought I would do it when I hit 300 posts...but that seems to be a while a way yet! So heck I am throwing caution to the wind and putting it out there.
Now this isn't any fancy giveaway like this one over here  ... it's a more modest giveaway for those faithfuls that read my blog! (because I was starting to wonder if anyone did...SO this is my way of saying thank you and for all your lovely comments!)
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favourite thing to make. Now it wouldn't be fair if I asked you to tell me what your favourite thing to make and I didn't tell you what mine was! My favourite thing to make is badges. I bought a badge maker last year and had big dreams of selling them and filling the world with badge love...well I've been doing the second part just not so much of the first part! So that's what you will be winning some pretty badges and magnets made from recycled paper...by me!

So to enter become a follower if you are not already, leave a comment telling me your favourite thing to make and the winner will be drawn (randomly) and announced on Monday 19th July 2010!
So come on tell me...what's your favourite thing to make!?

the courtesy wave isn't dead

On the way home from work I saw something that made me smile. You know if you let someone in while in traffic, lately I've noticed people almost think it's their right for you to do so...and there is no wave of thanks, sometimes they sneak in and then try not to make eye contact cause they have actually cut you off! Perhaps I am asking too much. BUT on the way home tonight I saw someone go to extra lengths with their courtesy wave...they waved through their sun roof, hand up out up towards the sky and a big wave of thanks! Loved it!

one year ago...today

I married this handsome man!
I remember snippets of the day...it was a good one...but it went so fast! We had lots of friends and family there, many travelling a long way to be there!
It has been an interesting year! We have had to adapt to many changes (lifestyle changes, job/study changes etc etc), It hasn't been without it's struggles and challenges...but boy it's been a lot of fun too!
It has gone entirely too quickly, it seems impossible that this year has gone by, But I am thankful to be blessed with a husband who loves me (on good, bad and ugly days!), one who listens to me in different situations (ranting, happy, sad....good, bad ugly!), who will fight with me, who will tell me I'm wrong (even though I don't always like that!)..AND WHEN I am RIGHT!!!, someone who sticks up for me and someone to laugh with!

I love you Timothy...Happy Anniversary my beloved! xx
