tasmanian treasures

tim and i went to tasmania for our honeymoon and we loved it! we visited hobart, launceston and cradle mountain.
hobart has lots of treasures. the cadbury factory, salamanca markets, love and clutter, lovely cafes! and lots of them. we found some wonderful place to sip hot chocolate and watch people walk by.
Launceston was a very rainy but we enjoyed a low key weekend and triple j's hottest 100 of all time.
cradle mountain had a day spa...no more needs to be said!

i look to the hills

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

clothe your self

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

GUITAR HERO

yeah so i am officially the crappiest video game player of all time...
i got booed off the stage playing beat it! ah which takes on a whole new meaning now! :)

lots of things to blog about...

you know i get these really great ideas on what to blog about when i am out and about and then think i must blog about that, and then time goes by and the moment is passed and then it becomes a bit redundant...well i am going to tell you about some things i have been meaning to tell you!

1. New Kids on the Block (NKOTB)...OK so when i was a kid we used to play at one of the neighbours house on the trampoline and NKOTB was on high rotation. i knew all the words and we loved it. this was the early 90's when east 17 and girlfriend were also part of my music stylings. NKOTB had been far from my mind...FOR a long time until only a couple of weeks ago when i found out they were doing an Australian tour and i was flabbergasted! it was funny! and their name had almost become redundant...because they were no longer the new kids on the block!in fact they had been around since the early 90's...um that's NOT NEW! ha never the less i was intrigued and i thought just for a joke i would check how much the tickets were going to be for their concert...cause they were actually coming to Adelaide! ....&175..are you serious...so it wasn't really a surprise when their tour was cancelled this week...apparently the financial crisis...mmm i think there might be another reason behind it! perhaps the RIDICULAS price of the tickets!

2. sort of similar to the last point GIRLFRIEND...they were a band i used to listen to ALOT! i taped all their songs off of the radio and would make up dances to their songs in my parents lounge room when we were growing up...TODAY i heard one of their songs on the radio...ON THE RADIO....that hasn't happened since 1992 for me...it was funny!

3. Last night i was totally spoilt! i had my hens night and it was a hoot! we had a shared dinner together...and you know when you go to something like that there is one dish that EVERYONE seems to bring...well last night that dish was MINI quiche!!!! it was great! thankfully there were homemade sausage rolls, soup, bread, coleslaw, risotto it was delicious. we had pass the parcel and everyone had to answer questions about me it was fun and i miraculously won the prize at the end! ha a candy bikini top...you know those necklaces you can eat the beads. it's made out of the same things, fantastic! we also had a body shop at home party and i totally got spoilt...i will now own half the body shop at home and smell super sweet!

4. the problem with doing these sorts of posts you start off really gung hoe and then after a few you forget what else you wanted to say...well i did have some other things i wanted...oh just remembered one thing! Today Tim bought guitar hero...he is a bit of a computer and video game lover and he claims that i might actually enjoy playing this game. maybe. but i am CRAP at these things...i claimed i was only good at mortal combat cause you just have to bash the crap out of people, to which Tim replied NO you'd probably be crap against someone who actually knew what they were doing..HA and then he called me a BUTTON MASHER!!! have you ever heard of that term...it's someone that just mashes the buttons...as in just pushes whatever buttons...i had NEVER heard of that...and the fact he actually had a term for it is beyond me.it's true you learn something new every day...and keep learning new things about your partner!

and now i really have forgotten the other random things i wanted to write...one day i'll just get on the computer when ithink of these things and JUST DO IT!!!

16 sleeps...

it is very exciting and very soon til our wedding! i have made lots of lists and i am checking things off day by day. lots of phone calls, emails and conversations to people about things to do and finish! i have been talking to friends who are about to travel to see us and it is so exciting to be seeing them soon. and today i got some super great news. my friend clare who got married last december has been waiting for her visa to go back to the UK so she can be with her husband...and SHE GOT IT last night! after 6 months of waiting, she'll be able to come to our wedding and then be able to go with her husband!

ahh happy!

I've heard it being said that...

if you can put ikea furniture together without having a huge fight you are doing well! well on Tuesday night Tim and i did well! we have been purchasing new things to deck out our new home. Bed, book case and CD stacks and today a dining suite. the other stuff comes assembled BUT not the Ikea stuff. we did well...it got a little close at the end to tempers flaring, but NO squabbles! we got to put together one CD stack and one of the big cubed bookcases....so our house isn't so empty now!!

I think i get it...

so i have been hearing A LOT about Twlight. Like, you should definitely read the books, you should absolutely watch the movie.
So last night i watched the movie. and it was...pretty good. Jek had watched it earlier in the week and talked it down a bit so it wasn't so hyped, which was good because you know when you hear about a movie and sooooo many people are talking it up and when you actually see it, it's not all it was cracked up to be.

I actually quite enjoyed it, and i think i probably would have enjoyed it a little more if i was a 16 year old girl because the main character...who is a vampire albeit being a bit pale is pretty handsome. the sexual tension between the lead girl and boy...i wanted them to kiss earlier but because the guy is a vampire and "wants to suck her blood!" they didn't! ha

but jokes aside it was an enjoyable movie just a little slow. and it ends so it is SCREAMINGLY obvious there will be more movies, but i think i will wait to have another night in and watch them on DVD.

Badge making heaven

i had a lot of fun yesterday morning...why?
i hired a badge maker from Badge-A-Minit and made badges for our wedding...it was LOADs of fun and these pictures are proof of our fun labour. Every time i hire a badge maker from there (this was the third time!) i am REALLY tempted to buy one...and yesterday after i was done making the wedding ones...i wanted to make more and lots of different kinds, ones out of great wrapping paper i have saved to re use...old music it was just the best time. I was having a romantic thought of how fun it would be to have a cafe and have different craft groups meeting every week, a knitting corner, a quilters group...a badge making crew, it would be wild! i need to write all my ideas down so that they can someday come to fruition! :)
for future reference i will be buying more components to keep on making more and more and more!!

please play those songs less...

you know when you turn the radio on and it just seems like you always get the same songs...the radio station gets a new lot of music in and like EVERY dj gets on board and plays a certain couple of songs every show they host.

i've been getting this with two songs lately...seriously every time i turn the radio on in the car on i hear at least one of these songs, sometimes both. one of them is about soggy toast and bacon that's hard to chew but the author of the song still goes to this cafe because the gir that serves him is pretty and he loves her...and i seriously can not stand this song. it is repetitive and i'm not a big fan of the tune. i've taken to turning the radio down when this song comes on. why don't you just change the channel i hear you say, well this station on a whole is fairly decent while most other stations are rubbish and i would be experiencing this problem a HECK of a lot more if i listened to those radio stations!

The other song is by blis anSO and it's not too bad, but it has a line in it about swinging from the lobby in the Marriott...anyway the language is fairly fowl at times and i could probably go without hearing it for a while because i seriously want to hear some different songs.

how to solve this problem? perhaps i could put a cd player in my car so i can choose the tunes myself...but i might miss the news or something! :)

not so modivated...

i was really motivated about blogging for a little while there...but i think i have lost the urge for a moment...
i'm trying to plan our wedding and even more stressful than that...pack up my stuff to move to Tim's place...which is proving to be alot more annoying. I tried the take a few things at a time...culling, pack away papers for the shed and the "I can't possibly throw that out"....line that i keep using..

but besides that...it is getting exciting though! 7 weeks and...3 days til the wedding! eeekkkk

Ambushed...

yesterday was a usual day until i walked to my local supermarket to get some things. some people from the Advertiser were there and asked if they could take a picture of my with my green bags!i was trying to avoid them cause i heard them ask some other people if they could take their picture...but i was ambushed! In South Australia yesterday there was a state wide ban on light weight plastic bags. this photo turned up on line this morning! however as the caption suggests i am actually quit happy about the plastic bag ban! :)

Hill of Grace

About 13 years ago dad was given a bottle of "hill of grace" if you're into wine it's a pretty special bottle that you keep for many years and then drink it on a special occasion. it was a 93 bottle and today we cracked it open. mum noticed earlier in the week that it was leaking so it was time to drink it before it was spoilt. so we celebrated with some good friends from Bundaberg and as a late celebration of Tim and I being engaged.
what was the verdict? I'm not much of a red drinker but it was rather enjoyable!

productive as

Over this Easter long weekend i have had the opportunity to have some alone time.
Tim has had 5 friends here visiting him, and they have been doing boy things. which has given me the opportunity to do a few things i have been meaning to do for quite some time!

i have...
1.gotten our wedding invitations printed, assembled and addressed...well most of them!
2.bought fabric for mini bags for our wedding
3.bought photo boxes to organise my jumbled heap of photos
4.ORGANISED THE PHOTOS!!!
5.filed old bank statements, bills etc
6.DUSTED my room...which has happened maybe one other time since i have lived in this apartment
7.cleaned out my boot, it was pretty much filled to the brim with empty demineralised water bottles, costumes, junk and plastic bags, as well as a bag full of stuff for the op shop.
8. enjoyed a few pots of tea
9. watched a couple of great movies (I am Sam and Stardust..while constructing invites), as well as many episodes of arrested development
10.had the opportunity to blog
11. spoken to almost sister and brother in law on the phone
12. cleared my desk
13. tidied my room

i feel accomplished but feel that i have inhaled enough dust for the time being!

Monkey Business

For my birthday i got a fun little key ring. here he is! when you look at him he's pretty cute but then he has a button on his head! and his eyes light up, but that isn't the part that made me nearly crap myself the first time i pressed that little button. he also makes a monkey noise! which is REALLY loud! I've been catching people off guard ever since! thanks Bec and Roelof! :)

Farewell Fringe...for another year!

SO the Fringe is finished! a time of year where Adelaide truly comes alive! it has been a wonderful few weeks seeing lots of different comedians and plays all in all we went overboard really! and after all of it frankly I'm rather tired and probably need to hold off on buying tickets for anything for a while, mostly because we booked our honeymoon today...but more about that later...

these are the shows we saw:
Charlie Pickering
Greg Fleet
Adelaide is heaps good comedy debate
Burlesque Bizarre
Dark side of the choir
Arj Barker
Judith Lucy
Wet spots
Gothic Punch and Judy
Storm in a tea cup (which was a youth circus)
Unit 46 ( a play)
a reading of Mark the gospel
A midsummer nights dream
and of course our weekend to see Sydney to see coldplay!
and to finish it all off Adam Hills on Saturday night! he is such quality and it was great to finish a fun month off with such a quality act! check me out on spicks and specks on abc Wednesday nights.

so now we are have to do things that don't cost anything because we have a wedding to plan for, today we booked our honeymoon to Tasmania! it is so exciting to have done it and to have paid...a portion of it! and it is SOOOO exciting to have a lovely holidays booked, it gives me a lot to look forward to. I mean i have lots of things to look forward to but sometimes it's hard to see because when you are feeling a little stressed about things it's nice to know there is a nice holiday coming up in less than 4 months!

to relax last night Tim and i watched a portion of my birthday present, Narnia the lion witch and wardrobe AS well as Prince Caspian! our very own Narnia marathon! wonderful! thanks to bec and roelof for that present!

birthdays are the BEST!!!!

so sunday was my 25th birthday!
and to celebrate Tim and i decided we would go and visit his brother and sister in law and the little pikelet (baby bump) in Sydney! it also happened to be the same time as coldplay was touring! so we went to their sunday show in sydney!

it was so great! we got to catch a train into the city and see the sydney opera house and the bridge! we even saw people climbing the bridge...they looked a little like ants! :)
that was saturday and then sunday we did some of my favourite things. Go to church, eat fish and chips, sit at the beach, go to JB hi fi and a really great stationary store called KiKi K! it was great i wanted to buy everything and organise my desk! and for pre dinner dessert we had birthday cake! ....OH and how could i forget...we went to the lindt cafe! AHHHHH it was wonderful! the waitress was thinking i was a little weird taking photos of EVERYTHING!!! BUT i didn't care i was having so much fun! and then of course the day finished with Coldplay and that was AMAZING! ahhh i was so happy we got to go...especially since we nearly left the tickets in adelaide! WHOOPS!!
but my sister came to the rescue and we got on the plane...with the tickets...just!
we got back monday night and enjoyed a night in the garden of unearthly delights with my mumma, dadeo, jek, bec and courty...as well as bubba tim! being 25 has been a lot of fun so far!

Wirraway

as part of my job at Concordia, i get to go on camps with the different year levels each year. the first is usually the year 7 camp and for the past 3 years it has been at wirraway homestead just out of strathabyn. it is ALWAYS a hoot! there is horse rising, archery, rock climbing, swimming, fly fox. IT"S an amazing campsite! and the people that run it are a fantastic bunch of people too. camps are a great way to meet students and to get to know them better, i have a lot of fun doing this and it's a chilled environment to get to know them and what they like.

so i have just completed my 4th camp at wirraway..O make that 5 (i went there when i was in year 6!!!)

and it was another corker, but i am glad that it is the weekend!

getting stuff off your chest

Good day to you all.
I've been a bit overwhelmed lately. my life is busy and i am reminded of it constantly.
A few weeks ago I was at a retreat day and a co worker made a comment on how busy the people around him are, and that perhaps if the busy people realised this and took some time to focus on God and their relationship with him, that the world wouldn't stop turning, if they in fact stopped their busyness!
for the next 5 days or so it kept coming up, being busy and not taking time out to rest and relax. I've often had a problem resting and reflecting and basking in God's care. But it has been on my heart for the last few weeks or so and the past week has been a bit up and down.

But today it climaxed a bit and i spoke to another co worker and he was good about it. i got some things off my chest and it does feel better after you've had a cry and spoken to someone you trust in your workplace about these things. and i have learnt...and i think it is a life long lesson i will be learning that i do need to be quiet sometimes and sometimes i need to be alone and not hanging out with people, and sometimes i need to turn the TV off, the radio, the light and lay and spend some quality time with my heavenly father.

so if anyone is reading this and is feeling busy and overwhelmed spend some time with God, in his arms in the quiet.

there are some other exciting things that are happening! the fringe is in town and i have seen a couple of things so far, eaten corn in the garden of unearthly delights and seen acrobatic kids in a circus!

and things are coming along with our wedding! i haven't gotten a heap of things done I'm helping with a camp but my darling friends are helping me out with invites and bunting and fun things so i am VERY excited!
Tim and I have almost been going out for 2 years and the photo above was taken when we had only been going out for a few months!

2nd engagement party

so we are blessed. but sometimes the situation is hard!

we are blessed because Tim's family live in Brisbane we got to have an engagement party in Brisbane which is nice because i still have a lot of precious friends up there. so last night we celebrated!

there was so much food, wonderful food that Maureen, my soon to be mother in law made, she is a gem and can really cook! we always leave a few kilos heavier. so many yummy treats, BBQ and a chocolate fountain to boot! SO GOOD!!

there was pretty decorations and lovely pictures that Rebecca and Roelof spent time working on, and a lot of nice things were said and therefore I had a tear because i often cry when nice things are said!

the only thing now is we have to leave and go back to work and leave our wonderful family and friends. but while it lasted we had fun and loved seeing our friends old and new, and meeting each others friends we hadn't met before...

and now we look forward to July! our wedding! :) to all those who came to help us celebrate thank you we love you all a lot xx

waiting

So i have had a wonderful weekend.
i travelled to Queensland to attend the wedding party of a friend of mine (will post photos soon) and it was wonderful. very happy lots of smiles, cakes, wine and fun. got to be in the place i did the final 3 years of high school and spend some time with old friends. evn visit the beach.

however because i am a little disorganised with looking after my self i didn't sort work and say ok i'll have this time off and just stay in brisbane a few extra days instead of coming home and then going back up to spend time with Tim. so i was coming home today so i can work tomorrow and finish something off for our up and coming road trip.

so i had a flight from Brisbane to Sydney, Sydney to Adelaide...it was the cheapest flight at that time of day, when i got to the airport who should we see but Adrian and he was on my flight...both of them, unfortunately we realised it to late and were unable to sit next to each other to chat....

ANYWAY the flight from Brisbane was a little late leaving which meant we were a little late arriving in Sydney and we had to go straight to the gate to board our plane straight away.

we thought things were fine...but when we were waiting at the luggage carousel Adrian heard his name over the loud speaker...so we went over to the info desk and his bag had been left in Sydney because there wasn't enough time to get our bags onto the next plane.... and that they hadn't arrived in Adelaide on our plane but that they would on the next one at 9pm.

so 2 and a half hours ago Adrian got a call to say his bag was here in Adelaide and that they would deliver it...the twist is...his house keys were in his bag and so he has been here for the last 4 hours waiting...but having a nice distraction of talking to Rebecca in Canada!...i think he might be using the spare mattress tonight!

so we wait and hope our bags will arrive...eventually!

love and marriage!

So on Friday a very good friend of mine got married to her beau! it's so exciting! she is the first of our group of friends from school to get hitched. Simon her HUSBAND now...is from the UK and so they went to Melbourne and got married! it is such an exciting time and a real achievement! Well done Clare and Simon for making this big step! i look forward to celebrating with you VERY soon! xx
