Nikola and 10 year not so reunion

when i heard that the lead singer from milliencolin was doing a solo acoustic tour i thought for sure Adelaide would be skipped. but to my absolute joy he did a show at enigma on Saturday night and it was fantastic. i went solo and met a friendly fellow who i studying to be a nurse and he bought his mum and dad along which was cool!
and he played and played to the small but very committed crowd...i even got a set list after and got a to lauren from nikola! but it was hard to get in because everyone was spell bound afterwards...(i'm telling you it was wonderful everyone should have been there!)

and this guy was talking to him and asking if he liked wine...cause his friends (and he pointed to his friend) dad owns a winery in the barrossa henske wines...and the funny thing is that when dad was studying we used to go out to the barrossa and the owner of that very winery used to go to the same church...i reakon it was his son that played the saxaphone...he was pretty nice on the eye...but because i was so pre occupied with nikola i only realised this a couple moments later and when i went to freak him out and ask him if his parents did go to that church he was gone! oh well...it was a wonderful night...i parked on hindley street and my car was still there when i got back so i was pretty pleased!

stepping into the century we currently live in

all i can say is mum and dad got broad ban...

you little ripper!

NOFX....

there is nothing like going to a live show...and further there is nothing like going to a punk show. it had been a while since i had heard the fast drums, loud guitars and the music that i really do appreciate in a venue with lots of people.

that was my Monday night.
nathaenal and i went and met up with a bunch of his mates. i proceeded to loose them and spent alot of the night by myself. however did bump into Rowan a nice young man i have met on a number of occasions. we had an interesting conversation. i didn't pick him being into NOFX and he said he doesn't like to tell people that cause people tend to judge you by the music you listen too. i think i found myself doing that from time to time...and i do that when i have to listen to music i don't like! and it was an interesting point and such.

i found Than just before they started and i enjoyed it for the most part. up until they started bagging Christians and i wasn't down with that. i concluded they make good music but they take tooo many drugs and drink to much.

they did play bottles to the ground and i do enjoy that song!

i was also informed NIKOLA the lead singer from milliencolin is playing at enigma on sunday night! i'm getting myself along to that one too!

just when i thought i was growing out of my punk stage....

the curse of the sneeze

If i was living in the days when the plague was rampid i would have been locked up or shoved underground because my sneezing would have made people think that i had the plague.
perhaps i should be locked up under ground because then the pollen and everything else that makes me sneeze, my eyes itch and nose run wouldn't do those things to me....

telfast are making a lot of money out of me these days....
and it's not even spring!

nofx tonight...it's come up and i didn't even get into the counting sleeps for it cause of the busyness of everything...so i am looking forward to it. to the fast drums and the loud guitars!

let's sing it...HOT HOT HOT

i thank God for air conditioning and the fact our flat got ac earlier this year, cause it was a stinker on the weekend...not sure what the actual temp got to but saying it was rather warm was an understatement...today we had a cool change and now it's only 34!

so i've been a bit in need of up dating this but i don't have the net at home and whenever i go to mum and dad's i just want to hang out with them and chat...and stay in the cool ac...the "bunka" as it is affectionately known is detached from the house and can get hot as hell.

new things in my life
1. i have now seen tool twice in concert...thanks to the big day outs (gold coast and Adelaide)
2. i am addicted to gilmore girls...no thanks to brad and di!
3. i went and saw a night at the museum on saturday with my youngest sisters...it was ridiculous BUT i loved it! good old Ben stiller!
4. it's my birthday in less then a month
5. Chocolate bean is being phased out of my life...i have a full time job between school and church so it's a bit full on doing part time work too! which is sad cause the people i work with are ace and what can i say...I DO REALLY LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!

that's all i can think of!

but installments will be more frequent these days...I hope!

good day to you.

photo documentation

Last night a group of us now dubbed the "Catherine Court Crew" drove to the barrosa to celebrate with Chelsea at her 21st Birthday party. The theme was happily ever after and i went as a pixie and jek was queen of the fairies. it was a really good party, catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones. we got home after 2am and during the night i was drinking some water and obviously didn't put the cap back on the bottle cause i awoke in a pool of liquid...because i was in a sleepy daze i thought it was something else...but no just water. Chelsea looked beautiful in a lovely pink gown and she was the belle of the ball! it was wonderful to be there and to celebrate. hope tuesday is a great day for you too Chels! xxx
Jek and I went to a Bogan's and Ballerina's Party last weekend. Thanks Sarah for inviting us and having your birthday so that we could enjoy dressing up like complete bogan's...literally! it was a great party and we enjoyed hanging out with a lot more bogans oh and ballerina's too! after that party we went to a break dancing comp to see a mate break dance...unfortunately we arrived late and missed him but still saw some very talented dancers!

all the mcnicol girls at the confirmation. Jek, Bek, Courty and Loz. 26th November 2006

well that's some photos...there are a few more but dial up is so FREAKIN slow and i am hungry for dinner. however quickly today there was an ordination in the Lutheran church. 5 or 6 guys were ordained as Lutheran ministers at Concordia Chapel. Niki my new house mate, her brother was ordained and so there was much exictement.

catching the ball with my shin

so...i wasn't entirely embarrassed when i played the staff v students game! however i did miss a ball that got thrown to me and then it connected with my shin...it really hurt and there was swelling. and now there is a reasonable bruise.

and i didn't even get out for a golden duck...i got one run! i was pretty stoked!

we had a carols night at school last night and it was pretty sweet. some of the grade 12's came back for it which was nice cause they have been done for a few weeks now. and i got the chance to hang with some of the students afterwards. there are some talented kids at their school and it's such a blessing to be working with them and to get to know them. Julian announced that it's a month to the QLD road trip which is pretty exciting. we are taking 8 young people up to QLD for two weeks this summer. it is going to be a fantastic time to get to know them, share in devotion and have a really fun time in the process. Eug and I have contacts up there and so we are pretty excited anyway to be going back and seeing some old mates! i think the most exciting part is that the YP are so excited about it

my back is heaps stiff

i bought contemplative youth ministry today...i heard about it earlier in the year so i bought it so mum can give it to me fr christmas i'm looking forward to reading it.

the last cd's i bought were darren hanlon fingernails and mountain tops, the killers latest and kashmir curse of being a girl...check them ALL out!

and finally i ran most of ward street today to catch a bus....the driver saw me started tooting the horn and waved me over...and said mate i would have stopped for you back at the last lights...i was happy he stopped for me, he was a friendly fellow! kudos to that bus driver!

4 minutes around about...

i got to speak to one of my very good mates this morning, we haven't spoken since the 10th august...i know this date because it's the date she left to go over seas! i got a call this morning around 9am adelaide time from the dresdan dolls gig in london when they were playing the jeep song! it was very exciting! about half an hour later i got another call and clare and i got to talk for about 4 minutes. it was great. before clare left and i lived here in adelaide and she in brisbane we talked once a week so it has been a strain not being able to talk with her for so long. not that we really said anything too profound in that 4 minutes it was nice to hear her voice and know that she had had a wicked time seeing the dresdan dolls...check them out if you haven't heard of them they are a two peice from boston. amanda on keys and vox and brian on drums... they are stella.

hopefully in the next week we can talk on the land line for more then 4 minutes

The course of events

This morning I had a really bad dream. It was concerning the events that are to take place in January and February. The Big Day Out. These events may not be as devastating to you are they were to me but it was bad at the time.

it started with the Big Day Out (BDO). I can't say whether it was the Adelaide or Gold Coast BDO because there were kids from school in it and so was jek (and she's in QLD). So I went to the show and had to leave for some reason...I have no idea why.

but then I found myself with a group of kids from school sneaking into a house. It was dark and then it was light and dark then light, so I was getting confused with the time and not really knowing what the time was I lost track of time.

all of a sudden I realise that crap if I don't hurry up I am going to miss TOOL...ok so I have waited the best part of say 10 years to see this band...Don't ask me why it's taken me this long to see them...Other events that are too traumatic to think about ...Maybe less traumatic then this event but I've started this story now so I have to finish it...

ANYWAY...I had to start making my way back to the place where the show was. And well that's when things were getting ugly. I was with this group of people and I was trying to catch the bus and so I went back to the mystery house...and then back to the bus stop...i am not sure why...and then I finally got a bus I had left my bag at the house. So I had to get off the bus and go back for the bag...trouble is I couldn't remember what the house was like because it had gone dark again.

after panicing and I mean going a little nuts I found someone and used their phone...I knew the person and she let me use it. BUT to send the message I had to print it out from her phone..that was connected to a mystery printer someonewhere. I was hoping to delete the message from her phone because the message was for my sister and well I had used some colourful language and I didn't want this girls mum reading the message I had written...I was still Lauren the youth worker in this dream.

so as soon as I clicked send my sister was at the door...teleported or something and we were on our way through a shopping centre. She of course bumped into people she knew who all wanted to speak to her, with which she replied "LOZ WILL kill me if we don't keep going" so we were running and running by this time it was 10.30 at night...but it was still light...day light saving isn't that good...

I was startled out of the dream when my alarm went this morning...I don't know if I got to see tool or not...

sigh

5 years

it's 5 years since i finished high school. i got thinking about this because yesterday was the year 12's last day at Concordia. they had an assembly and they did a fantastic job, i laughed...A LOT!!! they had prepared skits of their time at concorida and there was a bit of fun and immitation of the teachers. Then last night we had a really nice dinner for them and had some speeches. there were a few teary eyed people and it was a lovely celebration. there was a lot of talk about change and that this is a time in the lives of the students who are leaving that they will experience a lot of change. i know this year has been a year of change and challenge for me...but i think i am stronger for it. but the last 4 years have been changing years too. i left home, moved from the town i was living in and went to uni and studied. made new friends, lost touch with others. it's interesting to look back and contemplate it.

mmm yes

on a less philosophical level...house mate situation might be sorting itself out! which is very exciting!
