Meet Pip!

Meet Pip! (and my sister!)
The newest member of the Barnickelberry clan. Jek and Dave bought her last week and she is so cute. We met her on Monday night and she was hoping around and tasting all the weeds in Mum and Dad's yard! TOO CUTE!
...and that brings us to the end of blogtoberfest for another year...fell off the bandwagon a bit at the end but never mind! I did my best!

fun invitations

So I'm not super savy on the computer when it comes to doing fun invites. My skills extend to publisher! So when I was looking for cute invites for Tim's ordination I went straight to Etsy!
I searched graduations invitations and came across Stacie's shop Girl in Gear studio. I immediately fell in love with her work and contacted her to make a custom order which she was more than happy and capable to do. I think they describe the celebration really well. A lot of the guys in past years have opted to have bigger parties but Tim has decided after the ceremony to have an intimate dinner with our family and some close friends.I have been awaiting their arrival...and they arrived in the post today!
Thank you Stacie I am looking forward to sending them out very soon!.

*

It's been a hectic few days
Work wise, life wise.
After finishing the fun of the baby shower I am on to the next thing and feel a little like I'm just keeping a float. I know it's because I'm trying to keep my mind occupied while we wait...
these beautiful flowers were purchased on Sunday here

project 9/28 Priscilla's baby shower

It was only last month I was telling you about Rebecca's baby shower! Well good news she had her baby on October 11th and I met him last week...Josiah Isaac. He is so weeny and CUUUTE!!!
BUUUT this post is about Priscilla's baby shower.
I got an email earlier in the month saying could you please save the date for her baby shower. So I put it on my calendar and then a bit later emailed her back asking her if someone was organising if you her? She said had helpers but she was organising most of it herself...Priscilla and her family moved here at the beginning of the year for her husband Ryan and so her family (as in Mum...sisters) isn't here...who I guess would usually throw a shower. So I texted my sister and said we gotta do something about that...So I called her said you are to stop all planning we are taking over...
What a bossy boots!
But she was really grateful! Because she'd already been planning and thinking she had an idea for white and black theme so she showed me some things she was thinking about and we ran with it. Priscilla had found some jars on freecycle and so we filled those with some lollies put some fabric on the top and it turned out to be a really cute thank you gift for all the guests!
A few weeks ago a dear friend posted a very cool photo of some bunting she'd made. It was bunting with a twist as she'd left a little slot to peg a photo on to it...she went to a very COOL SITE and got some of her Instagram photos printed. It looked so good. So Jek got to sewing and made some beautiful bunting...we were stealthy and asked Priscilla her password for Instagram and got the photos printed! They looked fantastic!
We played a couple of games...pass the baby with trivia questions each layer of clothing! Celebrity heads...and we were going to play pin the baby on the belly but we got busy eating, chatting, praying and opening presents so we didn't end up playing it...But I got a photo of Priscilla with it anyway! It was cute while we were setting up Priscilla's little girl looked at the picture and said "Mummy your tummy is SOOOOO big!"
There was so much delicious food, everyone bought a plate to share.
And there were lots of beautiful handpicked flowers!
It was a wonderful day and a fair bit of time and fun went into it...so I am totally counting it as one of my projects for the year I think it may be the 3rd of 4th baby shower I have organised this year...perhaps it should have been the 28 baby showers I organised! hahaha!...10 down! 19 to go! :)

Wednesday last

We had a really exciting, full on excellent day on Wednesday. I'm not even sure on where to begin. I sort of wished I had written about it that night but we were so emotionally exhausted from the day I just couldn't. So I'm going to try and remember everything I can!
On Wednesday Tim and I attended his final interview for his study, he still has a few assignments to complete, then graduation and ordination but this interview was about meeting with the presidents of the church to be placed in a congregation next year. In a way it was pretty much a job interview really.
And it went really well. I was invited to attend and I got asked a few questions too. The interview went for a bit over half an hour and we were asked different questions from how would be feel about driving in between congregations? How would Tim feel about possibly doing some work in a university setting in a rural town centre? I was asked what frustrated Tim! :) and how he relaxed and took time out...amongst a lot of other questions...all in all we felt like we were honest and open with how we were feeling. AND there were a few laughs too! It wasn't all stiff upper lips.
We were interviewed by the district president from Western Australia, New South Wales, a lecturer from Tim's collage and the national president of the Lutheran Church of Australia. So we were thinking are we going to WA or NSW...and reflecting on the questions we were trying to guess where they were going to send us...but the guessing is futile...and we were trying to guess and then Tim was getting fixated on a certain place. In the end we said to each other we can't do that because if we don't go there we'll either be really disappointed ..or we'll freak ourselves out if we read lots about one place and don't like it and then get sent there...we are over thinking things big time! But do you blame us? :)

After all of Tim's classmates were interviewed we shared lunch together and later in the afternoon we had a debrief of the day which was good. We went back to Tim's sisters place where his parents were and we reflected and celebrated with his family about how the day had gone. It was nice to have them around to share the end of the day with.

So now we wait.Wait to hear where we will be placed next year. Hopefully it is in the next couple of weeks but it could be later next month. On Wednesday night we were reflecting on how we were feeling. Up until then I was counting down to the day until the interview and then probably hoping we'd find out in the same week...which was a bit of wishful thinking. But after the interview I felt almost content that we'd done our best and it didn't matter so much when we found out. I think I was also thinking that when we find out where we were going then the shit would get real and I felt like I was going to be looking forward to much...making plans for next year without enjoying the hear and now. I mean that's how I felt Wednesday. Tonight I feel OK and much the same...ask me in a couple of weeks time and I might be feeling something much different!

Tomorrow I am back to work so that will provide a good distraction from thinking about it every moment of the day and thinking when will we be getting the call!

What a little cutie my husband was...still is
We celebrated with presents in between study breaks. Then a KFC party at his sisters for lunch and then a delicious dinner and lemon merange pie as he blew his candles out!

I'm going to the ZOO ZOO ZOO....

How long has it been since you've been to the zoo? I think it might be about 5 years for me! Tim and I went way back when we were dating...before the Panda's were here. (AND for those RADalaidians who haven't seen the Pandas their enclosure is really nice) It was a beautiful day. Beautiful weather, great company, cute kids!
Panda motifs in the hot chocolates!
And monkeys that just would not be quiet! BUT it was very fun to see them puffing out their breats/throats and calling to one another!
And I didn't even get sunburnt! ;)

Mumford and Sons new album- Babel.
Seriously do yourself a favour and go and check it out. You'll be happy you did.
I so wish we were going to their concert...they are in Australia next week but I was a fool and didn't buy a ticket straight away and now I am kicking myself!
Oh well for now I have it turned up and I'm bopping along at home!
What are you listening to at the moment. A new favourite or a good ol' faithful?

beautiful magazines

Do you love reading magazines? I have become quite a fan over the last few years and with so many beautiful magazines out there to choose from my pocket money doesn't last long ;)
Currently I am a frequent reader of Frankie, Peppermint and Extra Curricular. I got a Peppermint subscription for Christmas and way back when Tim and I were first dating he bought me a Frankie subscription...and I love it so much I have to renew it every year! Extra Curricular is a quarterly magazine put together by some lovely New Zealand ladies.
Peppermint comes out quarterly and it is lovely to read. I think my favourite article is the snap shot of a town they do each issue. They look into where to eat, where to shop and where to visit. I can't help but dreaming of going to the places and checking out all the things they have suggested! Usually they are in different states but one can dream!
My favourite article in Frankie is the "I love my shop". They feature shops from florists, to hot dog shops to vintage clothes stores! Again I always think if I happen to be in that town or city I must remember to visit that place.
Extra Curricular always do a theme for each issue. This issue...which arrived in the post this morning is MUSIC!
I tend to read my magazines like a book from start to finish and put a book mark of some sort where I am up to so I can come back to it later.
I also really love Mollie Makes. It's a UK craft magazine and it is LOVELY! It comes out monthly and unfortunately I haven't been able to find a newagency here that stocks it...and it becomes a costly exercise ordering it every month.
What Magazines do you enjoy reading and which ones can you recommend?
Now excuse me I have some reading to do ;)

long weekend goodness

There's nothing quite like a long weekend right!?
We headed to the country to an old farm house.
We played taught and played games
Op shopped...and my middle sister was in a much better mood than this photo suggests!
We enjoyed lots of delicious food at happy hour
There was a wind farm over the hill, tulips in the garden and lots of laughs
The outback TV was enjoyed
There was faces in cans stuck to rods
And a quick visit to a cute little guy to finish off the wonderful weekend
Holidays are grand! I intend on enjoying every moment!
